Kent T. Keeler

Kent T. Keeler, age 54, of Kabetogama, Minnesota, formerly of Albion, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in Kabetogama, Minnesota.

Per the wishes of Kent and his family, cremation rites were accorded. A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Saturday, March 29 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, 1209 Iowa Avenue West, Marshalltown, Iowa. Full military honors will be presented following the service by the combined VFW/American Legion Honor Guard of the surrounding area. Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown, Iowa starting at 12:30 P.M. Kent Thomas Keeler was born on October 28, 1970, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of Corwin F. and Dorothy (Thomas) Keeler. Kent attended school in Marshalltown, Iowa until he decided to join the armed forces. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for four years during Desert Storm. On October 7, 2011, Kent married the love of his life, Dawn (Walstrom) Keeler in Kabetogama, Minnesota.

Kent was a resort manager, store owner, and fishing guide. He was truly blessed to combine his work with his passion for the outdoors. Kent enjoyed ice fishing, and hunting bears, pheasants, and deer. He spent a lot of his time at the resort, but mainly spent his free time at Kabetogama Lake in northern Minnesota. Kent had 100 fishing guide trips every summer. He was a true outdoorsman with a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn (Walstrom) Keeler; his children: Ashley (Eddie) Hofer of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kolby Keeler of Kabetogama, MN, McKaylea (Cory) Johnson of Marshalltown, IA, Spencer (Ellie) Slade of Milaca, MN, and Parker Slade also of Milaca, MN; grandchildren: Brayden, Hayley, Everlee, Riley, and Cove; his father Corwin F. Keeler; his siblings: Kendra Nestrud of Marshalltown, IA, Kim (Jon) McKeever of Marshalltown, IA, and Kristy Keeler of Des Moines, IA; his favorite mother-in-law, Lois Walstrom; his sisters-in-law, Lori (Bill) Peterson and DeeDee Kahring; brother-in-law Greg Walstrom; many nieces and nephews; and his service dog of two and a half years, Abel.

Kent is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (Thomas) Keeler.
