Born on March 24, 1954, in Marshalltown, he was the son of John and Kathryn (Wilkening) Dull. Soon, he was joined by his sister Kris, who claims he teased her mercilessly, although he would say he got punished for her mischief. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1972 and was a member of the first Bobcat Marching Band to ever play at the Rose Bowl (1970). He later attended MCC and while there, drove the Haverhill route school bus. He later graduated from UNI in 1977 with his Bachelors of Business Degree. His first job was with Radio Shack followed by Eaton Company Marshalltown, Johnson Construction and Petroleum in Des Moines, and F & W in Marion, before passionately starting Mid-Iowa Petroleum Service, Inc. in 1998 and currently remained as owner and operator. On a blind date on September 5, 1981, at his sister and brother-in-laws house over a steak dinner, he met the love of his life, Kristine Gilchrist. After talking into the wee hours of the morning they discovered they were like-minded, including their political views. The two were united in marriage on June 25, 1983, at the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Following their marriage, Marshalltown was always home. Kevin loved people and had a huge extended family of co-workers, friends, camping buddies and Masons. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Marshall Masonic Lodge AF & AM #108, Shriners, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Tin Lizzies, the Jesters, Elmwood Country Club, Marshall County Republicans, Bucket List Tour Group, I-Club (2016 Fans of the Year), PEI, Wild Turkey Federation, and Pheasants Forever. One of the foundations of his character was philanthropy, giving to those in need, the Childrens Miracle Network, UNI Scholarship and many more. He loved his Hawkeyes. He attended games as a child with his Uncle George. He and Kris had lengthy long distant phone calls while watching Hawk basketball in the Lute Olson era. He thoroughly enjoyed tailgating with friends and family on Myrtle Ave. His highlights were attending tournaments and Bowl games with family. As a UNI graduate, he witnessed the huge upset of his Panthers over the #1 Jayhawks that sent the Panthers to the Sweet 16. He enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing, golfing, turkey hunting, Hawkeye Cruises, traveling (especially to St. Maarten) and collecting Hamms memorabilia. He also had quite a reputation for his famous Vodka Gimlets. He loved life and lived life. Left to cherish his memory are Kristine Gilchrist-Dull, his loving wife of nearly 33 years, his children- Alexander of Chicago and Ann-Margaret of Minneapolis, his mother Kathryn Dull of Marshalltown, sister Kris McKibben of Albion, mother-in-law Alma Gilchrist of Gladbrook, fur-baby Lily Mae and grandcat Oliver Bobby as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. In death, Kevin was able to rejoin his son, Austin Thomas who passed away in 1990, his dad John, brother-in-law, Rich McKibben, father-in-law, James Gilchrist, Ray and Marge Dreessen (who considered him a son) and his beloved Uncle George Dull and Aunt Ellen Connor.
