Kevin “Goody” Clarence Goodman passed away on January 7, 2026, in Haverhill, Iowa.
He was born on June 30, 1962, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Donald and Alice (Specht) Goodman.
He grew up surrounded by numerous close groups of friends, often bonded over their love of
baseball. Kevin could recount where the base paths once ran across the lawn west of the
Haverhill cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on
Friday, January 16, 2026 starting at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Oratory in
Haverhill, Iowa. Family and friends are also invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, January
15, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at St. Francis of Assisi- St. Henry Catholic Church in
Marshalltown. A vigil service will begin at 8:00 P.M. following the visitation, also at the church.
He is survived and loved by his wife of 39 years, Dana Goodman; his children, Christian
(Cassidy) Goodman of Haverhill, Brennan Goodman of Cedar Rapids, and Quinn (Kevin) Vo of
Des Moines; his brother, Gary Goodman (Jacque) of Marshalltown; sisters-in-law and brothers-
in-law; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
Following a childhood on the family farm, he graduated from Marshalltown High School
in 1980 and went on to Iowa State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Farming
Operations. Kevin often joked that the degree was in “Sports Eligibility” – he walked on and
played baseball for the Cyclones. This adventure earned him a letterman’s ring and, most
importantly, introduced him to his future spouse – the ADPi sorority girl in the navy peacoat –
Dana Becker. The couple married in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Haverhill on
August 23, 1986. He returned to his family farm with Dana two miles west of town. There, he
grew row crops, handpicked the best Angus cattle for his Goodman Beef clients, and raised
three children. Baseball and softball remained a constant throughout Kevin’s life. He was a
player, coach, instructor, fan, umpire, and above all, a teammate and friend, touching many
lives through sports.
Kevin’s children were the pride of his life. He devoted himself to public service, most
recently as a Marshall County Board Supervisor. He gave his time selflessly to others, knew no
stranger, and found comfort in his faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-
law, Gary Underwood, and his father-in-law, Wayne Becker. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions will be designated to a need yet to be determined, honoring Kevin’s life and
passions. The family will be accepting baseballs and softballs at the visitation to be donated to a
local sports league.
