Kim Carter

Kim Carter, 66, of Tama, Iowa, passed away on the morning of December 12, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Kim Darlene Carter was born March 18, 1956 to parents Edward Sr. and Audrey (Cran) Carter in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She grew up in the Fort Dodge/Humboldt area and moved to Tama during high school and later graduated from South Tama Community High School in the class of 1974. She stayed in Tama all her following years.


On October 14, 1986, Kim was united in marriage to James D. Jordan. Together they resided in Tama, Iowa and then raised their daughter Jenniffer. She worked at Meskwaki Bingo and Casino on their surveillance team for 15 years until she had to leave due to health reasons. James and Kim later divorced but remained close until he passed away on December 13, 2010.

Kim was extremely active with the Meskwaki Church, the Tama Woman’s Society, Celebrate Recovery, and the Cemetery Society. She was involved in garden and various card clubs over the years. In her free time, Kim enjoyed to get coffee and cappuccino with her friends, spending time with her friends and family, playing Pepper and Gin, taking part in the Ecumenical Society (Community Resources). She loved to just keep moving in general.


Those left to remember and cherish her memory is her daughter, Jenniffer (John) Gross of Tama; her grandchildren, Danica Scheller, Addysin, Rowynn and Grayson Gross alongside several others that she claimed as her grandkids and who called her “Grandma Kim”; her siblings, Kenneth (Deb) Carter of Fort Dodge, Edward Carter Jr. of Pomeroy and Patrick Cater of Woden. Jenniffer’s best friends were like her own children and she accepted them as such; Additionally she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.


She was Preceded in death by her parents Edward Sr. and Audrey Carter; her brother Rick Carter; and her grandparents Nina and Kenneth Cran.
