Kimberly “Kim” Harms, 62, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
Per the wishes of Kim and her family, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services for Kim will take place on Tuesday, January 3 at 1:30 P.M. at Salem Church in Lincoln, Iowa. She will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery in Gladbrook. Friends and family are invited to also attend a visitation on Monday, January 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Born Kimberly Ann Ladehoff on May 3, 1960 in Marshalltown, Iowa, she was the daughter of Donald Ladehoff and Priscilla (Shirk) Crumley. She grew up in Gladbrook, Iowa and graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1978. Kim was united in marriage to Dave Harms on June 14, 1985. Together they raised their son, Jeremy, in Lincoln, Iowa and later moved to Marshalltown.
Kim was passionate about her job and taking care of Veterans. She excelled at her position as a Nursing Unit Coordinator at the Iowa Veterans Home and retired on January 4, 2015 after dedicating 33 years there. In her free time, she enjoyed cross-stitching and she was an avid reader. Kim was a member of the Salem Church in Lincoln, Iowa and a member of the Marshalltown Street Rods. She really enjoyed her “Domino Sisters” and her monthly lunches with her NUC group. More than anything else, she loved her family and especially enjoyed attending all of her grandson’s sporting events over the years. Kim was grounded in her faith and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 37 years, Dave; her son, Jeremy (Christine) Harms; grandson, Blake Harms; her father, Don (Alice) Ladehoff and mother, Priscilla Crumley; siblings: David (Deb) Ladehoff, Susan (Brian) Thompson, Wendy (John) Harger and Renee (Mike) DeVenney; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kenneth Harms, Sandy Harms, Karen (Doug) Sienkenecht, Roger Beeghly, Vernon (Audrey) Harms and Donna (Russ) Lage; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In eternal life, she is reunited with her paternal grandparents, Verna and Clarence Ladehoff and her maternal grandparents, Delbert and Betty Shirk; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Arnold Harms, Alan Harms, Jan Beeghly and Sandi Harms.
