Kirk Valentine, 54, of 909 Finkle Avenue, Marshalltown, died Thursday evening, October 18th at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23rd at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A time of fellowship will follow the memorial service. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23rd. Memorials may be directed to the family. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. He was born in Newton and later graduated from Urbandale High School in 1971. He lived in Marshalltown for many years of his life. He was employed at Wolverine Tech in Grinnell and recently as a truck driver for Gervich and Swift & Company. Kirk traveled as a free spirit. Many will remember Kirk for his love of movies and music, telling jokes and stories, watching baseball, playing golf, and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Left to honor his memory are his daughters, April (Wesley) Myers of Omaha, NE, and Lyndsey (Nick) Jansen of Marshalltown, one grandson, Jett Jansen of Marshalltown, his parents, Melvin (Helen) Valentine of Clutier, and Betty (Gene) Bowers of Pleasantville, 1 brother, Mike Krogman of Garner, IA; 2 sisters, Melody Schweitzer of Louisvile, KY and Sue Morgan of Wolfsorth, TX; and 10 nieces and nephews. In death, he has joined his grandparents.
