Kristi Ann Svendsen was born September 23, 1961, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the youngest of two children born to James “Jim” and Shirley (Navara) Svendsen. Kristi grew up in rural Green Mountain, Iowa where she graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1980. She furthered her education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa where she received her Bachelor’s degree in 1984.
On August 13, 1983, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jeff Farrington at the Chapel Church. They began their lives together in Ames, Iowa and shortly after, moved to the Twin Cities area in 1984. They happily began a family of their own raising their two sons, Cory and Jacob. Kristi made a career working with numbers. She was a financial accountant for numerous companies over the years. She was a member of the Chapel Church in Green Mountain and the Dragon Divas of Minnesota (alternative support group for breast cancer survivors).
When she wasn’t in the office, she enjoyed traveling to warm and tropical places. Her favorite place to go was always Hawaii. In her most recent travels, she traveled overseas to England, Scotland and Ireland to cheer on the Iowa State Cyclones in August 2025. She was a proud supporter of Iowa State Athletics and always made sure to attend her sons’ sporting events while they were growing up. She loved to read, cook, spend time on the boat and be outdoors during the summer. In her recent years, she was known to play the daily wordle puzzle and spend time with her granddaughters.
Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her husband, Jeff Farrington; her sons, Cory (Jodee) Farrington and Jacob Farrington; her granddaughters, Addison and Sadie; her mother, Shirley Svendsen; brother, Doug (Linda) Svendsen; and her nephews, Kevin (Joshua Engelkemier) and Michael Svendsen.
She was preceded in death by her father Jim Svendsen and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Alice Farrington.
