Kristi A. Roseland was born December 15, 1957 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the oldest of five children born to Donald and Colleen (Brennick) Roseland. Kristi grew up in rural Gilman, graduating from LDF in 1976. During her time in school, she was actively involved with 4-H and FFA showing POA horses. She learned western pleasure riding and later, barrel racing. She started out with her first job working for Pizza Hut as a manager in Marion, Iowa before working for De Long in Gilman as a seamstress until they closed their doors.
Kristi met the love of her life, Bennie Wolfe, on June 21, 1980 at a horse show in Tama, Iowa. The two were inseparable. Kristi and Bennie established roots on the acreage of her maternal grandparents. They were able to work together with her parents to raise and train horses and oversee the future care of her parents. They later were united in marriage on December 6, 2016. Kristi worked for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance as a supervisor in customer service from 1997 until 2017 when she retired. While she wasn’t at work, she was spending time with her horses and various organizations. Her life revolved around the sport of barrel racing. Kristi was involved with the National Barrel Horse Association chapter IAD-3, the Iowa Girls Barrel Racing Association, the Iowa Can Chasers Association, the Gilman Saddle Club, the Iowa Paint Horse Association, and was inducted into the Iowa NBHA Hall of Fame in 2020.
In her free time, Kristi was always attending and participating in Barrel Races and working on her beading of tack for her business, Barrels N Beads. Her work was well known all across the United States and also featured in many awards. She enjoyed going to family gatherings and following the Grand Marshall Band.
She is survived by her husband, Bennie Wolfe; her siblings, Tim (Deleana) Roseland and Kendra (Daryl) Stalzer; nieces and nephews, Jill (Chris) Lewis, Craig (Brenda) Roseland, Lori (Justin) Miller and Curt (Avery Hines) Roseland; sisters-in-law, Judy Roseland, Carolyn Brooks, Marilyn Bischof and Elaine Detweiler; alongside numerous great-nieces and nephews.
