Kristin Teckenburg

Kristin Teckenburg, 47, of Des Moines, passed away Thursday, February 2nd, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Born on September 6th, 1969, in Rockford, IL, she was one of two girls born to Carroll L. Butch and Judy (Goecke) Teckenburg. When she was in 3rd grade, her family moved to Union. Kris graduated from the BCLUW High School in 1988. She later attended AIB in Des Moines. Kristin began her working career at Sears in the Credit and Collections Department before joining Citi Financial. Most recently, she has been a supervisor for card services at Wells-Fargo in Des Moines. She volunteered at Habitat for Humanity and the ARL in Des Moines. Animals were a big part of her heart. She became mom to Sophie and Jake, her rescue pets. She enjoyed making her home a place she was proud of. Countless hours of landscaping and working in the gardens made it a place of solace. Recently, her mom was able to make her home with her. Kristin had a way of entertaining her family and friends by telling stories on herself, laughing right along with everyone. Her sense of humor, wittiness, and love for life drew people to her, creating lifelong friendships. Left to mourn her loss are her mom, Judy Teckenburg of Des Moines, formerly Union; her sister- Kim (Mark) Shutt of Marshalltown and their children- Zachary, Blake and Emily; her fur-babies Jake and Sophie; her cousins whom she was very close to; aunts and uncles and many, many friends. In death, Kris rejoined her dad, grandparents and Georgie her beloved cat. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Private family interment rites will be held at the Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the service time on Saturday.
