Lorene was united in marriage to Cleo Walker, Jr. on July 15, 1945 in Appanoose County.  Together they resided on their farm in Mystic, Iowa, where they raised their three children.  As a young adult, she worked at the switchboard for the phone company in Moravia.  Later she worked at JC Penney and finally as the bookkeeper at the Centerville National Bank.  In her free time, Lorene enjoyed playing cards and board games, dancing, listening to music, gardening and canning. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she loved watching them play sports, act in plays and attend their school concerts.  The grandchildren grew up spending a week or two every summer all at the same time, where they enjoyed fishing, going to the carnival and checking on the cattle with her and Cleo.  Lorene was an excellent cook and was best known for her homemade noodles, cream cake and gooseberry jam.   She and Cleo loved wintering in Las Vegas later in life. Lorene was a person who always gave so much of herself to her family and she will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her two children:  Linda (Ron) Newton and Dennis (Vicki) Walker; grandchildren: Cari (Steve) Teske, Chad Walker, Amy (Bob) Kramer and Andrea (Zac) Olson; great-grandchildren: Trenton, Tanner and Treye Teske, Riley, Addyson and Ashtyn Kramer, Layton and Kael Koch and Morgan Walker; and four brothers: Jerry, Bob, Richard and Gary Martin. In eternal life, Lorene has been reunited with her parents; her loving husband, Cleo; her son Craig Walker; a grandson in infancy, Martin Dykes; her two sisters and a brother.
