Lane Bear

Lane Bear, 47, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, March 3rd, at his home. A service of remembrance to celebrate his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born on March 8, 1963, in Marshalltown, he was the son of LaVerne and Lucille Bear. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School and later moved to Oklahoma City and then Dallas where he worked for a cable company. While in Dallas, he met and married Kellie Kacey Lawler on November 30, 1985. To their union one son, Josh, was born. Even though they parted in 1992, they remained very close and good friends. They moved back to Marshalltown where he was employed at Swifts and later as a dealer at Meskwaki as a dealer until an accident forced his retirement. Lane will be lovingly missed by his sons: Josh, Dillon and Logan all of Marshalltown, his parents LaVerne and Lucille of Marshalltown, sister Sue (David) Forrest of Marshalltown, aunts and uncles: Ellen Owens of Kansas City, MO, Gene (Karen) Bear of Saratoga, Arkansas, nieces- Shelbe VanZwol of Fresno, CA, Whitney Van Zwol of Vancouver, WA, Kelsey Forrest of Marshalltown, cousins- Mark Dahms of Kansas City, MO, Todd Bear of Houston, TX and Troy Bear of Charlotte, NC as well as many friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents.
