LaNeal Patro, 76, of State Center, Iowa and formerly of Marshalltown, passed away on the evening of February 13, 2023 at State Center Specialty Care under the care of Suncrest Hospice with his daughter by his side.
Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services will be held. A burial will take place at the Clear Lake Municipal Cemetery at a later date. Memorials in LaNeal’s name may be directed to the family for a later designation. LaNeal Ray Patro was born November 28, 1946 to parents Carl and Florence (Cowgill) Patro in Mason City, Iowa. He was one of 13 children.
On October 3, 1967, he was united in marriage to Carol (Prescott) Patro in Hastings, Nebraska. They called Marshalltown their home and began a family of their own raising their children, Curtis, Danny, Brian, and LuAnn. LaNeal worked on his own for many years working in the aspects of construction, siding, and roofing. Carol and LaNeal divorced in 2002 and then he moved to State Center in the last couple years to be closer to his daughter.
In his free time, LaNeal enjoyed the art of carpentry ,taking fishing and hunting trips in his early years, working on puzzles, and spending time with his family including his great-grandsons Oliver, Gabe and Landon. He considered them to be his whole world.
LaNeal is survived by his ex-wife, Carol Patro Nielsen of Marshalltown, his children, Curtis Patro of Marshalltown, Danny Patro of Marshalltown, Brian (Stephanie) Patro of Toledo, and LuAnn Patro (Kyle Worsfold) of State Center; his grandchildren, Wendy, Kayla, Christian, Torrie, Cody, Hunter, Raymond, Tanner, Courtney, Caitlynn, Alyssa, Brendan, Stephanie and Jamie; numerous great-grandchildren; and his siblings Jerry, Wayne, David, and Gail (Roger) Lacey, and sister-in-law Marletta Patro.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Patro and Florence Petersen; his siblings, Marcel, Ken, Roger, Darlene, Louis, Donnie, Virgil, and Dianna; and his life long best friend Danny Faught.
LaNeal wanted all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to know how much that he loved them.
