Larry David Collins, 82, of Green Mountain, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Funeral services for Larry will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Larry David Collins was born on February 24, 1940 in Marshalltown to Stanley and Mary Helen Case Collins. He graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1958. On April 12, 1959, Larry was united in marriage to Janice Benbow at the Green Mountain United Church of Christ. Larry had a lifelong love of farming and worked for Lennox for 44 years. Larry enjoyed hunting for pheasant, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, horses and eagle watching with his good friend Karen Shipley. Larry is survived by his children: Eric Collins of Gig Harbor, Washington, Chris (Lynn) Collins of Rush, Colorado, Kendall Collins of Garwin, Melissa (Chris) Wood of Westerly, Rhode Island and Teressa (Paul) Pellett of Stoughton, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Hannah, Jacob, Seren, Ava, Annaliesa, Julianne, Laura and Owen and great grandson: Leo. He is also survived by his siblings: Sidney (Cathy) Collins of Olathe, Kansas, Gail (Jerry) Frye of Conrad and Clifford Collins of Marshalltown, along with many other family and friends. Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Janice; parents: Stanley and Mary Helen and infant son, Gregory Collins.
