Larry Kerr

Larry Deane Kerr, 78, of Marshalltown, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at his home.

Funeral services for Larry will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the Iowa River Church of the Brethren in Marshalltown. Visitation for Larry will be on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Larry Deane Kerr was born to Robert and Phyllis (Dobson) Kerr. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1965. Larry served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, receiving two Purple Hearts. On June 7, 1969, Larry was united in marriage to Patricia Brewer by the Justice of the Peace in LeGrand. Larry had been employed with Fisher Controls in Marshalltown. He was an active member of the NRA who loved hunting, and promoted safe and responsible gun ownership. Larry was a devoted Christian frequently seen reading his bible, attending church, and enjoying praise music.

Larry is survived by his children: Noel (Betty) Kerr and Bryan Kerr. Grandchildren: Michael, Chandra, Farren and Trenton. Great-grandchildren: Leroy and Romy. Siblings: Karen, Kerry, Berta, Bob, David (Toni) and Jerry “Bingo”(Becky). He is also survived by his sister-in-law: Kathi Kerr.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife: Patricia; parents: Robert and Phyllis, son: Stephen Kerr, and siblings: Brian J. Kerr and John Kerr.
