Larry Nelson, 69, of 2106 Summit Street, Marshalltown, died Monday morning, January 28th, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 1, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. A memorial fund is being established at the Farmers Savings Bank. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Larry and his family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born Larry William Nelson on April 28th, 1938, at Clemons, he was the son of Carl and Florence (Hook) Nelson. He graduated from the Clemons High Schools Class of 1955. In September of 1959, he was married to Ann Tribby. They had one daughter together, Debora. On August 18th, 1979, in Illinois, he was united in marriage to Rebekha Becky Jantzen Jacobson. They resided in Illinois where he was employed with Dycast, Inc. in Lake Zurich and most recently Toastmaster in Elgin, IL for 12 years. Larry enjoyed all kinds of sports and participated in the Championship State of Iowa Baseball Team. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Becky, four children: Debora Ann (Steve) Parizek of West Liberty, Iowa, Shawn Lippincott of Marshalltown, Erik Nelson of Wonder Lake, IL., and Nicole (Matt) Tyda of Marshalltown, five grandchildren: Lt. Anthony (Veronica) Clark of the Shepard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas, Vic (Brenda) Clark of Nichols, IA., Cody Krenz of West Liberty, Iowa, and Jeffrey Lippincott and Kaylee Tyda of Marshalltown, great-grandson Gage Clark of Wichita Falls, brothers Max Nelson, Sr. of Marshalltown, Earl (Susan) Nelson of Peoria, AZ. And Donald (Cecil) Nelson in California, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, brother Richard Swede and sister, Shirley Perkins.
