Larry Gene Swaim

Larry G. Swaim, age 86, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 13, 2025. He was under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

Per Larry and his family, cremation rites will be accorded. A family led committal service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.

Larry Gene Swaim was born October 7, 1938, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Frank and Dorothy (McGuire) Swaim. Larry attended and graduated from Marshalltown High School. On September 16, 1957, he married the love of his life, Beverly Ann (Johnson) Swaim in Iowa City. Larry worked for Fisher Controls in the stockroom until his retirement. They both lived in Iowa City, then Marshalltown, and finally retired to Arizona.

Larry’s hobbies included woodworking, landscaping, and mowing lawns as a business as well as taking care of his neighbors’ yards.

He is survived by his four children: Rick (Deb) Swaim of Greenbrier, AR, Greg (Kathy) Swaim of Marshalltown, IA, Randy (Cindy) Swaim of Columbia, SC, and Steve (Kara) Swaim of Marshalltown, IA; his brother Bob (Marge) Grimes; his eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and nine nieces and nephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Swaim; his son, Tim Swaim; and his siblings Lola Rowland, Wannita White, and Mary Lou Swaim.
