Larry Wayne Otto, 70, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with Jan by his side. Funeral services for Larry will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. In honor of Larry, those who wish are encouraged to wear blue jeans, his favorite attire. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the Hope United Methodist Church. Larry Otto was born on April 16, 1949 in Marshalltown to Robert Lee and Floy Belle Hellyer Otto. He was united in marriage to Jan Naylor on May 15, 1970 in Marshalltown. Larry had worked as a truck driver and had retired from UPS in 2007. He was an avid photographer and loved to make videos. Larry enjoyed spending time at Holiday Lake teaching everyone how to water ski and fishing with his family. Larry and Jan enjoyed going on trips together to Hawaii, Alaska, Panama and Disney. He looked forward to the Naylor family reunions in Oregon, Colorado and Canada where he had plenty of places he could take photos. Above everything else, Larry enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren and especially cherished the 20 plus years at the race tracks with Rich, Jacob and Laura. Larry is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Jan. Children: Rich (Shona) Otto of Marshalltown, Jacob (Brook) Otto of Houston, Texas and Laura (Brock Gilmore) Otto of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Kaylee, Kami, Reese, Gabriel and Lilian and great granddaughter, Leilana; siblings: Wilma Werner of Marshalltown, Vicky Otto of Marshalltown and Pat Petrie of Marshalltown and sister in law Linda Otto of Cedar Rapids. Larry is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Floy and brother Bob Otto.
