Larry was born April 13, 1940 in Redwood, Minnesota to parents Harold Alfred and Labonna Alberta (Hanson) Wegner. He graduated from Redwood High School with the class of 1958. Larry was united in marriage to Mary Jane (Johnson) on December 18, 1987 and they were blessed to recently celebrate 38 years together.
Since 1974, Larry was the owner and operator of Larry’s Towing in Marshalltown, well-known as “The Best Hooker in Town!” He felt great pride in serving his community and helping people out of tough situations for over 50 years.
Larry loved being out in the open, whether it was spending time on their ranch with his dogs, raising foxes and squirrels as a kid, tending to his horses, riding his Harley Davidson or flying his plane. He found happiness in the little things, like watching “Walker Texas Ranger” or “C.H.I.P.S.”, and eating chocolate chip cookies. Larry was also a former deputy sheriff in Marshall County and a member of the Aircraft Owners and County Pilot Association.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mary; his children: Jodi Wegner, Jason (Shannon) Wegner, and stepson Greg (Deanna) Bracy; two grandchildren: Landon and Haydon Wegner; his siblings: Donna Fennern and Dawn (Lonnie) Loff; and his beloved, Chow-Weenie dog, Bailey.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Labonna and his first wife, Joan Alice Wegner.
