LaRue Grace Woosley Reed, 87, of Conrad, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, Iowa and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.
Funeral services for LaRue will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Beacon Christian Church in Conrad. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. LaRue Grace Van Cleave was born on February 20, 1936 in Newton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clyde and Ruby (Burden) Van Cleave. LaRue graduated from Conrad High School in 1955. On June 25, 1955, LaRue married her high school sweetheart, Ted Woosley at the Conrad Methodist Church. Ted passed away in March of 2005. She later married Albert “Al” Reed on July 30, 2019 and he passed away in January of 2023.
LaRue had previously worked at both the Bones and Koehler's Café. She also had started working for the Conrad Schools back in 1978 as a study hall supervisor. LaRue was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, a volunteer at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown and was a Blue Star Mother. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and going to the casino. Most importantly, she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family.
LaRue is survived by her children: Martin “Marty” (Judy) Woosley of Sedalia, Missouri, Michael “Mike” (Connie) Woosley of Conrad and Mitchell “Mitch” (Tammi) Woosley of Dillon. Grandchildren: Tyler Woosley, Mindy (Emil) Apacible, Matt Woosley, Scott (Lisa) Woosley, Casey (Chris) Eis, April (Ryan) Zadow, Brock Woosley, Beau (Megan) Woosley and Abby Woosley, along with seventeen great-grandchildren.
LaRue is preceded in death by her first husband: Ted and second husband: Al; grandson: Joseph Woosley; great-granddaughter: Averi Eis and brother: Royce Van Cleave.
