Lavera Boelman

Lavera Boelman, 98, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa with her loving family by her side. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Lavera Groeneveld was born in rural Grundy County, Iowa on June 3, 1917; she was the daughter of John and Tillie(Lindeman) Groeneveld, she attended rural school in the area of her birth. On November 22, 1938, Lavera was united in marriage to William Bill Boelman at her parents home in rural Grundy County. They had resided in Ackley, Iowa and she had worked at the School in the lunch area. They moved to Marshalltown in 1964. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Lavera enjoyed embroidery, her flowers, garden, and loved to cook and was a great cook. Left to cherish her memory are her children: LeAnn(deceased Dick) Mathews of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ron(deceased Sharon) Boelman of St Peter, Missouri, Linda(deceased Stan) Karns of Marshalltown, Iowa and Judy(Roger) Mathies of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, brother, Dean Groeneveld of Marshalltown and sister-in-law , Fern Groeneveld. In death Lavera rejoins her parents, John and Tillie, husband, Bill,daughter, Donna Haynes and her husband Jay, brother, Leslie Bud Groeneveld, sister-in-law Helen, and great-grandchildren, Bailey Mathews and Kurtis Caine KC Karns.
