Lavonne Worden

LaVonne Worden passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on April 30, 2016 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 6, 2016 at Saint Henrys Catholic Church in Marshalltown at 11:00 with a visitation being held from 10:30 until 11:00. LaVonne was born on August 28, 1934 in Marshalltown and was the only child of La Verne and Vera (Rohrs) Pugh. LaVonne graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1952. Shortly after her graduation LaVonne married James R. Worden at Saint Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown on October 3, 1953. The two made their home in Marshalltown and raised four children. LaVonne was an active water lover, she enjoyed fishing with her family, boating, and loved to water ski. She would take fishing trips often and would always come back with a new fish story, some were more accurate than others. When LaVonne wasnt on the water she was with her family. She spent as much time as she could with her children and grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Julie (Dave) Stalzer, and Lesa (Terry) Lynn, son Joseph Worden, son-in-law Tim McMahon, grandchildren Emily McMahon, and Benjamin Wolter. LaVonne is preceded in death by her parents La Verne and Vera, husband James, daughter Laurie McMahon, and grandson Christopher Patrick McMahon.
