Leann Mathews

LeAnn Mathews, 76, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 in the comfort of her own home. Funeral services for LeAnn will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Craig Luttrell officiating. Public visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until services begin at 11:00 a.m. where her family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for LeAnn and her family. LeAnn Boelman was born on July 3, 1939, the daughter of William Bill and LaVera (Groeneveld) Boelman. She was raised and educated in the Ackley school district, graduating from Ackley High School. On August 22, 1959 LeAnn was united in marriage to Richard Dick Lee Mathews in Ackley, Iowa. From this union two sons were born: Todd and Scott Mathews. LeAnn was a hardworking woman dedicating her working years with Burger Chef, Water Department and most recently retiring from JC Penneys. She was a proud member of First United Methodist Church and JC Penneys Retiree Club. LeAnn had a passion for her family, gardening, flowers, cardinals, Jeff Gordon, St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings. She was a very loving and giving person who also enjoyed sending cards to her family and friends. Left to cherish LeAnns memory are her two sons: Todd (Collette) Mathews and Scott Mathews; grandchildren: Daniel (Megan) Mathews, Alexis Mathews, Tyler (Bridgette) Mathews, Alyssa Mathews and Olyvia Mathews; siblings: Ron Boelman, Judy (Roger) Mathies and Linda Karns; also several nieces, nephews and many special friends. She is preceded in death by her husband: Richard Mathews; parents: Bill and LaVera Boelman; one granddaughter: Bailey; sister: Donna Haynes; brother: Jay Haynes; sister-in-law: Sharon Boelman and Diana Haynes.
