Lee Schaa

Lee Schaa, 58, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away of Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Lee Ann Schaa was born in Eldora, Iowa on April 28, 1958; she was the daughter of Don and Gloria (Ruby) Schaa. The family lived in Eldora, then Waterloo, moved to Fargo, North Dakota, Sioux Falls, South Dakota and finally to Marshalltown, Iowa where Lee graduated for high school with the class 1976. Lee loved animals and spent time working for a veterinarian. She also enjoyed camping, at Bates Park with her sister and friends. Later, after her sister Lynn passed away she spent many hours gardening and cooking while taking care of her two dogs, Buster and Tucker along with several chickens. She and Dick also liked to check out Flea Markets and traveled when they could. Left to cherish her memory is her partner of many years, Dick Carter of Marshalltown, Iowa, parents, Don and Gloria Schaa of Parkersburg, Iowa, brother and wife, Doug and Jane Schaa of Eldora, Iowa and their children Michael Schaa and wife Abbie of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Kendra Schaa of Washington D.C.; sister and husband Amy and Chad Woodley and daughter Morgan Woodley of Ackely, Iowa and brother-in-law Roger Ballard of Marshalltown, Iowa. In death Lee rejoins her sister Lynn Ballard and her grandparents.
