Leigh Eipperle, 42, of Marshalltown, died Sunday, February 6, 2011, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Interment will take place at the Norwalk Cemetery Association in Norwalk, Iowa. Visitation for Leigh will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 10, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Leigh was born February 5, 1969, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Dorothy (Moore) Owen. She was raised in both the Des Moines and Norwalk areas and graduated from East High School. Following graduation Leigh moved to Marshalltown, resided at the CIRSI House for several years and worked at the Mid-Iowa Workshops. On February 15, 1997, she was united in marriage to Scott Eipperle at the First United Methodist Church. Leigh loved animals and had a special connection with them. Leigh especially loved her pet cats. She could often be heard saying my cats are my kids. Leigh also enjoyed spending time with her family and the traditional Thursday night Perkins dinners with her husband and father-in-law. Leigh is survived by her husband Scott of Marshalltown, her mother Dorothy Bowers of Des Moines, her father Howard (Hazel) Owen of Pleasant Hill, her brothers: David (Teri) Owen of Mitchellville and Larry (Betty) Owen of Silver Springs, Nevada, her sister Donna Reed of Des Moines, her father-in-law James Eipperle of Marshalltown, her brothers-in-law: Kevin Eipperle, Todd (Julie) Eipperle and Kyle (Carrie) Eipperle and several cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Leigh was preceded in death by her grandparents: Dean and Catherine Moore and Eileen and Leonard Owen, her mother-in-law Marvalee Eipperle, her nephew Larry Owen Jr., her aunt and uncle: Delores and James Scott and her step-father Don Bowers.
