Lela Snyder

Lela Snyder, 67, of Garwin, Iowa, died Thursday, March 17, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services for Lela will be held at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, March 22, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Visitation for Lela will be held from 5:00 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 21, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Lela was born July 10, 1943, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Harley and Elizabeth (Barker) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Marshalltown and attended the Marshalltown School System. Lela was married to Darrell Snyder on December 27, 1958, in Austin, Minnesota. Following their marriage they made their home in Minnesota for a short time before returning home. Throughout her lifetime Lela was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She spent many days with her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren watching Disney programs. When Lela had free time she enjoyed trips to the casino where she played bingo. She was the rock and anchor of her family and will be greatly missed. Lela is survived by her husband Darrell of Garwin, her daughter Becky (Jeff Bogard) Snyder of Garwin, her daughter-in-law Patsy Snyder of Albion, her grandchildren: Chad Snyder, Gena Wolgamott, Matthew Snyder, Amber Snyder, Brandant Snyder, Amanda Moeller, Ryan Snyder, Heather Snyder, Wade Snyder, Danielle Snyder, and her great-grandchildren: Samantha, Charlie, Alec, Wesley, Teal, Christian, Trinity, Ashlyn, Shaelynn, Abigail and Lydia.Lela was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Arthur Driskell, her sons Tate Snyder and Wade Snyder, her grandsons Jesse Robert Snyder and Derek Snyder and her great-grandson Jesse Kincaid Snyder.
