Lenore Luethje, 98, of Gladbrook, died Wednesday, November 20th, at the Carrington Place in Toledo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 23rd, at the Peace United Church of Christ with Pastor Robert Doner officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Maple Hill Cemetery north of Gladbrook. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Peace Church. Born Lenore Schroeder on April 17th, 1915, near Gladbrook, Iowa, she was the only child born to Albert and Alma (Ladehoff) Schroeder. She graduated from the Gladbrook High Schools Class of 1934. On January 26th, 1940, she was united in marriage to Raymond Luethje and they lived in Gladbrook until moving to a farm north of Conrad in 1946 and then retired to the Gladbrook, Toledo and Tama areas. She later became part of the family of Carrington Place in Toledo. Mrs. Luethje was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook and the Afternoon Guild of the church as well as serving as a longtime Sunday school teacher. Lenore enjoyed animals (especially cats), working with her husband on the farm and driving trucks, playing cards, keeping pride in a clean house, making jam and jellies, family dinners with her famous pot roast, and taking on whatever challenges came her way. She will be greatly missed by her many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins as well as friends and her family at the Carrington Place in Toledo. In death, she rejoined her beloved Raymond and her parents.
