Leo Reece, 73, of rural Clemons, died early Sunday morning, July 20th, in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24th, at the Clemons United Church of Christ with Rev. David Lewis officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Clemons Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. A memorial fund is being established. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on May 7th, 1935, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Otis and Nadine (Plumb) Reece. He received his education in the Liberty Township and later Clemons High School. On October 10th, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dolores Bryant in Clemons. With the exception of six years, they have always farmed in the Clemons area. He was an active member of the Clemons UCC and treasured his family and was passionate about farming. Leo also enjoyed helping everyone, his home at Lake Rathbun, a good joke and a Pepsi. Surviving are his wife Dolores, three children: Sandy (Vance) Phillips and their daughters Taylor and Paige of Ankeny; Brian Reece of Marshalltown; Susan (Gary) Bock and their daughters Hannah, Sarah, Emma and Angela of Urbandale, brother Larry (the late Ramona) Reece of Chariton, sisters Joan (John) Vannordstrand of Marshalltown and Sharon (Mike) McGrew of Granger and sister-in-law Pat Reece of Ankeny (formerly Zearing). Preceding him in death were his parents and brother LaVerne Reece.
