Leola Lee Wacha, 85 of Tama, Iowa passed away on August 27, 2011 at the Iowa River Hospice House, surrounded by her family.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Mitchell Family funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the daughter of Louis and Freida (Wagner) Schroeder. Leola attended school in Tama graduating with the class of 1944. On September 23, 1948 she was united in marriage to Wayne Charles Wacha in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They had farmed east of Toledo in Tama County. Lee moved in to Tama in 1979. In the earlier years she had worked for General Telephone as a telephone operator, she then was a homemaker for a number of years and then worked for Pioneer for 16 years, cooked at Tama County Home for 16 years and then retired as a cook at South Tama Schools. Lee was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama, a member of the Eagles, the Legion and the Toledo Garden Club. Lee enjoyed music and dancing, quilting, she had made quilts for her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she also enjoyed search word puzzles, cooking and watching Lawrence Welk and her game shows. She will be remembered for her great courage and strength thru adversity.Left to cherish her memory are her children; Richard (Judith) Wacha of Hudson, IA, David (Deborah) Wacha of Toledo, IA,Susan (Gary) Schneider of Guttenberg, IA, Sharon (Michael)Warden of Cedar Rapids, IAand Douglas (Clair Shefchik) of Tama, IA, her grandchildren; Jennifer, Steven, Kelly, Amy, Andy, Trisha, Jason and Louis and 11 great-grandchildren, a brother Calvin Schroeder, brother-in-law Melvin Hamilton, sister-in law Delia Ann Schroeder and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Leola was preceded in death by her parents; Louis and Freida, her husband, Wayne in 1975, a brother Carl, a sister, Marlene Hamilton and a grandson Wayne Wacha.
