Leonard Lynn Schnathorst

Leonard Lynn Schnathorst, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at home under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home.Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa with cremation and a private family burial at a later date. The family requests that everyone dress casual. Memorials may be directed towards the family. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Leonard and his family. Phone 641-844-1234.Leonard was born on May 22, 1962 in Chula Vista, California, to Leonard Duane and Gwendolyn Anne McCord Schnathorst. He graduated from LDF High School in 1980 and attended Marshalltown Community College to become a mechanic. Leonard married Betty Cruzan on May 12, 1984 in Marshalltown. Leonard loved to farm with his father as well as paint at Downs Painting and Decorating and most recently he worked at Raymon Donco for the last nine years. Leonard loved to hunt, fish, cut and sell wood from the family farm, go to his families sporting events and he cherished the time he got to spend with his newborn grandson Kaidon.Leonard is survived by his wife of 28 years, Betty Schnathorst, his father, Leonard Duane Schnathorst, sister, Sherie (Douglas) Heinrichs and their children Michelle, Sarah and Amy; brother, Terry (Natasha) Schnathorst and Terrys children: Brett and Morgan; daughters: Molly Schnathorst (Daniel Voss), Paige (Brandon) Bucklin and Tessa (Ben) Frahm; grandson, Kaidon Bucklin; in-laws: A.C. and Alice Cruzan; brother-in-law David (Nicki) Cruzan and their children Bailey and Bryce; sister-in-law Cindy (Bob) Gould and their children Dustin and Hannah.Leonard is preceded in death by his mother, brother in law, Robert Cruzan and his aunts: Dottie McCord and LeAnn Bates. He will truly be missed by many.
