Leonard Stalzer, 95, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2013, at Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab Center. Leonards wishes were for cremation and no services. He will be laid to rest at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Metre, Iowa, at a later date. Leonard John Stalzer was born on April 3, 1918, in Haverhill, Iowa. He was the son of Anthony and Amelia (Holdgrafer) Stalzer. He attended school at St. Josephs in Haverhill. Leonard served his county honorably during World War II from 1940 to 1945 in the United States Army. On June 10, 1946, Leonard was united in marriage to Frances Schoborg at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Haverhill, Iowa. Leonard and Frances lived in Haverhill, Iowa, Minnesota, and then back to their country home near Marshalltown the last 14 years. He was a farmer and then did factory work in Minnesota. Leonard was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Frances of Marshalltown; and son, John Stalzer, of Grinnell, Iowa.
