Leroy Kivett, 87, Longtime Superintendent of L.D.F. Schools passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Villa Del Sol. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Le Grand Friends Church on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the Le Grand Friends Church. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Leroy was born on May 16, 1927, in Joplin Missouri; he was the son of Leonard and Virginia Kivett. He moved to Noel, Missouri, where he graduated from high school. After graduation, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy and after serving for 2 years he entered college in Springfield where he met his wife, Ann. Upon graduation, they moved to Kansas to teach. After 5 years, 2 children, and a Masters Degree, they moved to Le Grand, Iowa, where he was Principal for 10 years and Superintendent for 21 years. Another son was born in Iowa. Leroy was very active in many school organizations, the Le Grand Friends Church and the community. He had a love for sports and was a member of the Iowa High School Athletics Association Board of Controls. He was a diehard Cardinals fan. Even after retirement he followed sports and activities at the school as long as he was able. He leaves behind his wife, Ann, of 64 years, and his children: son Mike and his wife Patty of Gretna, Nebraska and their children, Matt, John and Kayla Kivett; daughter LeeAnn and her husband Wade of Naples, Florida and LeeAnns son, Jared Nichols; and son Mark and his wife Ali of Gilman, Iowa and their children, Baylee, Gracee and Brody Kivett. In death he joins his parents, 2 sisters, and one brother
