Leroy Kroener

Leroy Roy Kroener, 80, of Marshalltown, died Friday, August 10, 2012, at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown. Memorial services for Roy will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 13, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. There will not be a visitation. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed in Roys name to his family.Roy was born December 1, 1931, in Rhodes, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Loretta (Vasey) Kroener. He was raised and educated in Melbourne. Roy served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War time. During this time, he was a mechanic. Roy was married to Jane Youker on March 24, 1952, in Albion, Iowa. Following their marriage, they made their home in rural Marshalltown and have lived there all of their married lives. Throughout his lifetime Roy worked as a semi-driver for Lennox and was also a farmer.Roy enjoyed deer hunting, building and tinkering in the garage, camping, stock car races and gardening, but most of all loved spending time with his family and friends.Roy is survived by his wife Jane of Marshalltown, his three daughters: Kristine (Michael) Fruth of San Diego, California, Marilee Weatherman of Marshalltown and Leisa Kroener of Marshalltown, his eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his children: Lynn Luse and Terry Kroener and his brother William Kroener.
