Leroy "Lee" Wallen

Leroy “Lee” Justin Wallen, 87, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown, and under the care of Hospice of the Midwest.

Funeral services for Lee will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will take place prior to the service; beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Leroy Wallen was born on July 18, 1936 in Rome, New York. He was the son of Cecil O. and Virgia (Daniel) Wallen. After high school, Lee served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1955 until 1965, during Korea and Vietnam. On November 8, 1959, Leroy was united in marriage to Nellie Mae Guynn in Houston, Missouri. Lee was retired from Clapsaddle Garber Associates. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Lee enjoyed fishing, playing cards, puzzles and singing. He also enjoyed cars and going to car shows.

Leroy is survived by his loving wife of almost 64 years, Nellie. Children: Dave Wallen, Rich (Nancy) Wallen and Leona Wallen. Grandchildren: Sam, Nora, Stephanie, Lauren, Jess, Alison and Kaylah. He is also survived by great-grandchildren: Tarissa, Gage, Bennett, Cason, and Louis Justin.

Leroy is preceded in death by his son: Gary Don Wallen; parents: Virgia and Cecil and siblings: Rita Hawkins and Sydney Sheppard.
