Leroy Stewart

LeRoy Stewart, 67, of rural Liscomb, Iowa , passed away unexpectedly at home on October 31, 2018. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, November 5th, 2018, from 5-8pm at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. The family requests no flowers but asks attendees to dress casually or in cowboy attire.  Allen “LeRoy” Stewart was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on August 24th, 1951. He was the son of Allen T. and Harriet Stewart. At a very young age, he went to live with his aunt and uncle, Wayne and Lorene Stewart, they were his guiding light until their passing. He attended school in the Beaman Conrad School District and graduated in the class of 1969. He attended Lincoln Tech and received his Auto Technician Certificate. On September 8th, 1972, LeRoy was united in marriage to Sharon McNair in the Liscomb Church of Christ in Liscomb, Iowa. They had lived in Conrad, Iowa, later moving to their home in rural Liscomb. He owned and operated Stewart Standard in Conrad, followed by employment as a service manager at a local Ford dealership, then Ritchies in Conrad & later, Richilieu in Grundy Center. For the most recent years, he owned and operated Stewart Hay Sales. Because he loved working with youth, he had been a 4-H leader of the Liscomb Lively Laborers and received recognition for 25 years of service. In previous years, he had belonged to the Tri-Five Car Club and had been a volunteer fireman for Conrad. He loved his hobby farm, having had raised buffalo, cattle, horses, and whatever else would show up. He loved rodeos, car shows, high school and college wrestling meets, and had never met a stranger.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Sharon; children, Theresa (Jeremy) McManus, of Gilbertville, Iowa, Shawn Stewart of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Brett (April) Stewart of rural Marshalltown, Iowa; grandchildren, Kaia Routier-Stewart, JJ McManus, and Brayden Kuker-Stewart; brother, Charles (Jolene VanWaus) Stewart of Ankeny, Iowa.  LeRoy was proceeded in death by his parents, and brother, Alvin.
