Leslie Les Freeman Hannesson died peacefully in his sleep Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Villa Del Sol under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the St. Henrys Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at the 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10. 2012 at the St. Henrys Catholic Church with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Les and his Family.Leslie Freeman Hannesson was born May 30, 1944 in Grafton, North Dakota; he was the son of Victor and Dora (Gislason) Hannesson. He grew up in North Dakota and graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.A. in 1967. He married Sheila Jerome in June of 1966. After graduating from college, Les and Sheila moved to Marshalltown to begin his career with Fisher Controls. He later retired from Fisher Controls in 2002.He was an avid handball player, loved to bike, hunt, fish, mowing his yard, and tinkering with cars.Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 45 years, Sheila Hannesson, his children: Leslie Fisher, Michelle (Jon) Kaiser, Vincent (Margaret) Hannesson and Peter (Francoise) Hannesson, his grandchildren: Morgan, Ryan, Hannah, Nicholas, Elijah, Noah, William, Peter, Avery, Aiden, and Oliver, his siblings: Vicki Pecka, Ron Hannesson, Bryan Hannesson, Nancy Jenkins and Valerie Hannesson.He proceeded in death by his parents and infant brother, Walter.
