Leslie Earl Fleming was born May 14, 1952 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the third of four children born to John Ray Fleming Jr. and Eugenia (Zorn) Fleming. Les grew up on the family farm in rural Gladbrook. He attended school in Green Mountain and graduated Green Mountain High School with the Class of 1970. Following high school, Les attended Marshalltown Community College where he received his Associates of Arts degree in Computer Drafting in 1972.

Following his graduation from Marshalltown Community College, Les spent his first years working for RAMCO in Eldora. He made his home in Marshalltown while taking a position as a draftsman with Fisher Controls (Emerson). After working his way up at Fisher Controls, Les left to pursue starting his own gun smith business Powder River which he operated until 2024 when he closed the business for retirement. Les was a true outdoorsman; he took part in Tri State Bass Club and spent countless afternoons playing the greens at Lincoln Valley Golf Course where he was a member.

In his free time, he enjoyed putting together model cars and trucks, going for social hour amongst friends at Vaughns Pub where he had a designated spot just for him, spending time with his nieces and nephews and finding the perfect fishing spot. Additionally, he looked forward to his elk hunting trips often taking trips to Colorado and Wyoming. In his younger years, Les spent many years participating in various bowling leagues around the Marshalltown area and was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. Les will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.

Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his three siblings, Judy Michels, John (Pam) Fleming and Bill (Annette) Fleming. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great- nieces and nephews.

In eternal life he is rejoined with his parents, John Fleming Jr and Eugenia Fleming; paternal and maternal grandparents, Ray and Henrietta Fleming and Eugene and Charlotte Zorn; brother-in-law, Robert Michels and his four legged furry companion, Boots.
