Leslie F. (Mrs. Bob) Lovig, 76, of Gilman, died Thursday evening, September 1, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center where she has resided in their loving care since May of 2007. Her death came peacefully at 7:10 p.m. with her loving family at her side and while in the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, at the First Baptist Church, 700 East Olive Street in Marshalltown, with Pastor Dick Sipe officiating. Immediately following the service, a fellowship and lunch will be held at the church. She will be laid to rest in the Stavanger Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on April 23rd, 1935, in Middleton-Cheney, England, she was the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Wallace) Waters. She received her education in the area of her birth and later attended advanced business secretarial schooling. At the age of 21, she came to the United States and has called it home ever since.Mrs. Lovig was employed in the secretarial profession in Des Moines and later worked for Child Support Recovery in Marshalltown. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Red Hat Society and former Eastern Star member. She will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor, knitting, playing games, fishing, camping, and the love of her winters in Arizona and farm life in Iowa as well as her family. In 1987, she became a citizen of the United States. Left to cherish her memory are Robert Bob, her loving husband of 30 years, whom she married on September 5th, 1981, at Gilman, and her children: Kimberly (Doug) Hanken of Marshalltown and their children Jacob (Mabel & children Ava, Oscar and Armand), James (Amy) and Claire; Michael Mills and his son Jackson of Marshalltown; Julie (Jeff) Miller and son Tate of Marshalltown and Matthew Mills of Marshalltown. Also surviving are Bobs children Robyn (Mike) Aiken and their children Christopher and Aaron of Marshalltown and Craig (Marlys) and their children Kim and Justin of Clemons, her brother Douglas Waters in England, sister-in-law Jean Peterson of St. Peter, MN. and many friends. In death, she rejoined her parents, brother and a sister.
