Lester Albert Kosnar was born on March 6, 1932 in Dysart, Iowa to Albert J. Kosnar and Sophie V (Holubar) Kosnar. Lester graduated from Dysart High school in 1950. He was united in marriage to Billie Lou Dicken on July 5, 1952. They later divorced on May 15, 1978 but remained friends and enjoyed family gatherings. Lester owned and flew his own plane, for many years as a hobby until his blood pressure kept him from renewing his license. He built an identical model and was very proud of it. He was a fireman for the Dysart Fire Department for a short time right out of high school. Lester belonged to many different organizations throughout his lifetime that he was very proud of. He sold farm equipment and cars his whole life. It was mainly cars after moving back to his hometown of Dysart (1987) after living in Oklahoma for a while to sell farm equipment for some friends of his. He enjoyed selling cars so much! After the fifth time of “retiring”, his declining health forced him to have to give up driving. He then moved in with his daughter where he resided until August 13, 2018 at which time he moved into Grandview Heights Rehab & Healthcare. He resided there until he passed away with his son, Larry at his bedside. He really enjoyed restoring his 1966 Chevy Impala SS convertible. He enjoyed his morning coffee with the “boys” and lunch dates with his friends when they’d stop in the dealership. He enjoyed going to many pancake suppers that was put on by the local fire departments, with his son, Kenny. He enjoyed going to car shows, truck and tractor shows and car auctions with his sons Gary and Larry. He really enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed watching Jeff Dunham and Big Joe’s Polka Show with his daughter, Michelle. Dad was always very devoted to his job as a farm equipment, car salesman, and to his many loyal customers. Lester is survived by his children: Larry Kosnar (Elaine Thurman), Gary Kosnar, Michelle Kosnar. Grandchildren: Renee Aragon (Andy Ratzlaff), Megan Kosnar (Andrew Determan), Nichole Ott (Adam Coomer), Jamie Ott (Jake Bennett), Brandon Ott, Rikki Vandenoever-Kosnar, Brittany Inman (Derek Inman). Great-grandchildren: Adrianna, Parker, Averi, Kennah, Garrett, Ariana, Jamiya, Daemion, Rosaleigh, Baby Girl Bennett, Ella, Taylor, Cheyenne, Bentley, Ryder, Cameron and his many nieces and nephews. Lester is preceded in death by his brother Joe Kosnar, sister Arlene Merchant, two sons Kenneth and Kendall and grandchild Casey Brent.
