Lillian “Lil” Hineman, 96, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines after suffering a heart attack.

Lillian Patricia Allen was born on June 3, 1928 in Churchville, Iowa. She was the firstborn daughter of Norman Wallace and Mary (Anderson) Allen. Lillian graduated from Melbourne High School in 1946. She was a dedicated house wife and worked various bookkeeping jobs. Lillian enjoyed playing bridge and going out with her friends for coffee. One of her favorite hobbies was shopping and she took pride in her appearance. She also enjoyed an old fashioned cocktail during happy hour at the Embers. Lillian also had the honor of having her own booth at El Portal, named “Lil’s booth” and when she would arrive, was greeted with a frozen margarita with a spoon.
Lillian is survived by her children: Ann Painter of Tempe, Arizona, Jane Hineman (Don Hadley) of Tucson, Arizona, and Polly Hineman (John Kavalier) of Tama. Grandchildren: Nathan Painter, Amy Shafer (Clint), Alan Painter (Kristi), Sally Rhodes (John), Sara Katzenbach (Nick), Amanda Westover (Matt), Jessica Blackburn (Marshall), Holly Kleiber (Will), Samuel Kavalier (Meredith), Grace Kavalier (Duggan Trenary) and Sadie Kavalier (fiancé Matthew Tenenbaum). Lillian is also survived by many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents: Norman and Mary; all of her siblings and son-in-law: Paul Painter.
