Lillian Leaton, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday afternoon, February 24th at the Iowa River Hospice Home with family by her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian is pending. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice Home or to the family for a later designation. Lillian was born on July 3rd, 1927 in Maynard, Iowa to John and Anna Stolka. Lillian graduated from Maynard High School in 1945. On April 13, 1948, she was united in marriage to Jack Leaton in Oelwein.
Lillian loved her flowers and would spend hours in her garden. She also loved to travel with her husband, Jack on various trips he would take when he worked for Marshall Motor Coaches. For a period of time, she worked for Dave Fagle, sorting science kits when they came back after being used.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Linda Leaton of Marshalltown, Barb Hand of Marshalltown, Ricky (Vicki) Leaton of Marshalltown; three grandchildren, John Hand II of Cedar Falls, Beth Leaton of Marshalltown and David (Meredith) Leaton of Norwalk. Great grandchildren, Carter, Noah, Lucy and Leo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In death, Lillian rejoined her husband Jack, her parents and sister Betty, brothers John and George, and son-in-law John Hand.
The family would like to thank the Iowa River Hospice staff, especially the nurses and aides, who took such wonderful care of Lillian.
