Linda Brimmer

Linda Joy Brimmer was born October 22, 1981, the youngest of 4 children to Fred and Carole Sprague of Marshalltown.  She passed on the early morning of August 31, 2020 due to complications of Multiple Sclerosis. She was at her home in Cedar Rapids at the time of her passing.  A memorial service for Linda will take place on Monday, September 7 at 11:00 A.M. at Journey Church in Marshalltown, with Pastor Jacob Rahrig officiating.  Visitation will occur the hour prior, beginning at 10:00 A.M.  Linda and her family are under the care of Mitchell Family Funeral Home.  Memorial funds may be directed to the family.  For additional questions or to leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Linda was married June 22, 1998 and three children were born to her and Scott.  Linda achieved an Associate in Arts degree at Marshalltown Community College and later a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major at Buena Vista University at Storm Lake, Iowa.  Linda also served as coordinator for Life Chain, a prayer vigil to end abortion. She worked as a child support recovery clerk at several offices in the area, most recently in Marshalltown.  She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2015.  Since July 2019, following numerous hospitalizations, treatments and infusions related to her battle with Multiple Sclerosis, Linda had been living with her sister in Cedar Rapids.  She had shown marked improvement in mobility, going from wheelchair to using a cane, as well caring for herself.  Linda may have had M.S., but she did not let it define her.  Linda is survived by her three loving children:  Josie (Josh) Mason, Jack Brimmer (Sommer Braye) and J.P. Brimmer; three grandchildren: Leela, Theo and Freya Mason; her parents: Fred and Carole; siblings: Melissa Grant, Stuart Sprague and Stephen (Paula) Sprague; and multiple other family and friends. She is preceded in death by 2 adored grandmothers and her beloved aunts, Barbie and Marilyn.
