Linda Joyce Hickman

Linda Hickman, age 72, of Newton and formerly of Marshalltown, passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 30th, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.           Visitation will be held from 3-5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born on March 5th, 1947, in Centerville, IA, she was the daughter of Winfred and Olive (Brinegar) Matherly. She graduated from the Centerville High School in 1965.           On October 27th, 1972, she was united in marriage to Arlon Hickman. They were blessed with two children- Tracy and Greg. They later divorced in 2006.           Linda was employed in her younger years at Meeker’s Laundry in Marshalltown and later Country Kitchen, Arby’s, the Senior Citizen’s Center and MCC cafeteria as a cook. She loved to sew and make quilts, color and listen to country music. Time with her family was also very precious.           Left to cherish her memory are her children- Tracy (Jeffrey) Halbstein of Newton and their children Jacob and Sam and Greg Hickman of Springfield, MO. Also surviving are her siblings- Jim, Karen, Dennis and Mark Matherly and Kathy McDanel as well as many nieces and nephews.           In death, Linda rejoined her parents and three sisters.
