Linda K. Moore, 85, peacefully passed away on July 9, 2026 at The Willows of Marshalltown. Linda leaves behind a legacy of service, family, and community. Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted with Mitchell Family Funeral Home of Marshalltown.
Born Linda K. Stevenson on May 22, 1941, in Clearfield, Iowa, she was the daughter of Raymond and Maxine Knox Stevenson. Linda graduated from Clearfield High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts Education degree from Tarkio College in 1964. She later obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Missouri in 1968.
Linda met William Moore at Tarkio College and they were married on August 18, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage. They raised their family in Marshalltown, Iowa. Linda enjoyed reading, quilting, playing bridge, and church activities. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years and later joined New Hope Christian Church of Marshalltown. Her career included being the Director of the Marshall County Daycare System and she owned Linda’s Fabrics in downtown Marshalltown. She and Bill also owned The Golden Plum jewelry store in Bowling Green, Kentucky and Cedar Falls, IA. They retired and moved back to Marshalltown in 2004. They enjoyed traveling in retirement.
Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Bill; brother LJ (Linda) of Greeley, Colorado; daughter Lora Kester (Dan) of Council Bluffs; son Steven of Marshalltown and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Following Linda’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A private burial will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. An Open House to honor Linda’s life will be held for family and friends at The Willows, 2315 Campbell Rd., Marshalltown on Saturday, August 8th from 1:00-3:00 pm. A short, family led remembrance will be shared at 2:00 pm.
Memorial contributions will be donated to Tarkio College, now known as Tarkio Technology Institute, as a way to honor Linda’s educational legacy and support future generations.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the friends and staff of The Willows and Suncrest Hospice of West Des Moines. There never was a moment your love for Linda was not shown.
