Linda Underhill

Linda Underhill, 74, lifelong resident of Marshalltown, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Accura Healthcare of Marshalltown. Per the wishes of Linda and her family, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A family-led celebration of life will take place on Saturday, April 23 at 12:00 p.m. at New Hope Christian Church, with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be directed to www.mitchellfh.com or by calling 641-844-1234. Born Linda Hayes on August 4, 1947 in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Harold “Bud” and Winifred “Winnie” (Rempp) Hayes. After graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1965, she went on to cosmetology school in Cedar Rapids. Linda was blessed with her beautiful daughter as a result of her union to Harold “Tom” Underhill. She worked hard to provide for her family: first as a cosmetologist, then in accounting for the YMCA and lastly in security at Meskwaki Casino. Linda was a member of New Hope Christian Church. In her free time, she enjoyed dancing, playing cards and reading, especially the newspaper. Linda always had a smile and a hug ready for anyone who needed one. More than anything else, she loved spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kerri Underhill (Jesse Shockley); grandchildren: Alexis (Devari Doss), Daesha, Whitney, Tanna and Aaliyah Underhill, Larry Prusha and Kaytie (Aaron) Shaffer; two great-grandchildren: D’Angelo and Nova; her sisters: Sherri (David) McGee and Sandy Price, both of Kansas City, MO; nieces: Kristin Newell and Nerissa (Ron) Stawicki; nephew, Tony Price; former spouse, Tom Underhill; her close friend, Sheryl Underhill and numerous additional nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rich Hayes and granddaughter, Stephanie Ward.
