Born on August 17th, 1945, in Eldora, he was the son of Clyde and Lillian (Coen) Knox. He graduated from the Union-Whitten High School’s Class of 1963. While in school, he participated in football, school plays, chorus and track.
While out for a ride with friends, the trio invited a young Sharon Rose sitting in front of her house to join them. She agreed and the rest is history. The young couple was united in marriage on September 12th, 1964, at the Ivester Church.
Marshalltown was home all of their married lives where he was employed at Swift’s- starting as entry level maintenance and retired at supervisor after 42 faithful years of service. Everyone knew he could fix whatever broke at any time and where every switch and plug in was located in the building. He loved what he did and had a strong work-ethic (beginning at age 12 helping farmers).
Linn enjoyed races and old cars, playing golf, watching the races in Indianapolis, Kansas City and Las Vegas amongst others, attending family reunions and treasured his family.
Left to cherish his memory are Sharon, his beautiful bride of 58 years; son Christopher (Johnna) Knox of Huntington, TX and daughter Kim (Jerry)McHenry of Marshalltown; granddaughters and family- Kelsey (Joe) Dauterive (Cullyn, Jensen and Raegan) all of Granger, IA, Kathleen McHenry of Chicago and Megan McHenry of Waterloo; siblings- Keith Knox of Napa, CA, Becke Arnold of Oskaloosa, IA and Peggy (Neil) Martin of Marshalltown, as well as nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In death, Linn rejoined his parents, sister-in-law Barb Knox and brothers-in-law Steve Cutler, Gary Arnold and Tom Stanfield.
