Born Lisa Brown on April 9, 1965 in Marshalltown, Iowa, she was the daughter of Harold and Imogene (Borton) Brown. She graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1983. Lisa was united in marriage to Chris Stackhouse on October 21, 1984. They were blessed with three children and married 25 years before his tragic passing in 2008. Lisa was fortunate enough to find love again and was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Vajgert on September 26, 2009.
A true caregiver at heart, nothing made Lisa happier than taking care of other people. She was blessed to do this in her personal life for her family, but also in her professional life as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at Marshalltown Manor and later Grandview Heights Rehab and Nursing. Lisa enjoyed collectables, with themes including Sponge Bob, dolphins (a love that started with the Miami Dolphins), unicorns, bears and thimbles. She had a zest for life, well-known for throwing many big parties. Lisa even joined roller derby at age 42 and excelled as the “jammer” on the team. She was always so welcoming and never judged everyone that crossed her path.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 15 years, Mike; her two children: Jeannie (Doug Salyers) Stackhouse and Kevin (Shawna) Stackhouse, both of Marshalltown and stepdaughter Samantha Lopez; three grandchildren: Trinity Salyers and Nora and Briget Stackhouse; three brothers: Russell (Candi) Brown of Marshalltown, Harold (Jana) Brown Jr. of Albion and Keith (Amelda) Clapsaddle of Des Moines; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In her passing, Lisa rejoins her first husband, Chris and grandson Kevin, Jr., who both died in a house fire in March of 2008; her son, Curtis Stackhouse; her parents, Harold Sr. and Imogene Brown; sister, Glendora and several aunts and uncles.
