Liva Eitzen entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Bickford Cottage in Marshalltown, Iowa while under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, IA,with Pastor Scott Lothe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. The following day Tuesday, March 6, 2012, an 11:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. visitation will be held in Shenandoah, IA at the Kirsch Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Coin, IA. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or Hope United Methodist Church. She was the eldest of three daughters, born to Merle and Emmer(Alley) Bartles. She was raised in the Shenandoah, Northboro area. Graduating from Northboro high school in 1939. Liva was united in marriage to Staff Sargent Orville H. Eitzen on September 8, 1942 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. They made their home in Denison, Texas where Orville was stationed at the Perrin Field. Orville was killed in flight training exercise on August 14, 1944. Liva then returned to Shenandoah, Iowa where she was employed with Earl May company for several years and in the offices ofDr. Weaver and Hoverholser. She was also employed with the Lone Star Gas Company of Grapevine, Texas. She then retired in 1985 as office supervisor at Iowa Electric (Alliant Energy) in Marshalltown, Iowa.Liva was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Builders Class and United Methodist Women. In recent years she was a member of Hope United Methodist Church.She is survived by her sister Loretta Bartles Trullinger of Marshalltown, Iowa ,Five nieces and nephews: Bart Latta, Lanis Latta Pittard, Mark Trullinger, Carmi Trullinger-Olson and Jeri Ann Trullinger-Meyer.Liva was preceded in death by her husband Orville, her parents: Merle and Emmer Bartles, her sister: Lila Latta and her brother-in-law Jerry Trullinger.
