Lloyce Saltzman passed away on Wednesday morning, October 4th at his home surrounded by his family. Lloyce was born on November 20, 1943 to Lloyd Saltzman and Ruth (Schulze) Saltzman in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was 79 years old. He grew up in State Center, Iowa and graduated from State Center High School in 1962.
Lloyce served in the United States Army from April 1965 to April 1967. He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood and was called to duty in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. He was with the 8th Engineer Battalion 1st Cavalry as a SP5. He was honorably discharged after proudly serving his country.
He was united in marriage to Mary Timmerman on September 2, 1967. They were blessed with two daughters, Kristine and Jennifer.

Lloyce was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served various jobs on the church council. He was on the State Center cemetery board for six years, where he volunteered many hours at the cemetery. He was also a member of the State Center American Legion.
Lloyce loved cars, watching the Chicago Cubs, “Da Bears” and the Iowa Hawkeyes, listening to 540 KWMT and enjoyed restoring old tractors (especially Farmall), toy trucks and pedal tractors. You could always find him mowing and perfecting his yard, uptown chit-chatting with the guys, plowing and clearing driveways, watching his granddaughters show their livestock at the fair, watching Westerns, war documentaries and Turner Classic Movies, drinking his Diet Coke and always had a can of Skoal within reach. He was especially proud of his children and five granddaughters (called them his “Fabulous Five”) and his grand-dogs (Tilly, Nala, and Cade). One of his most recent cherished moments was spending a summer weekend in Clear Lake, Iowa with his kids and family present. He loved them all dearly and was always keeping track of their accomplishments, both big and small.
