Lloyd W. Eggers

Lloyd W. Eggers, 88, of Marshalltown, died Wednesday, July 14th, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 19th, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center of which he was a member. Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center. Born on November 28th, 1921, at State Center, he was the son of William H. and Gladys (Ankrum) Eggers. He graduated from the State Center High School in 1939. On February 15th, 1942, he was united in marriage to Irene Henze in State Center. Soon after, Lloyd served our country honorably in the United States Navy in WWII. He returned home and the couple farmed in the State Center area. After retiring from farming, he took a short-term job with Iowa Mutual Hail Insurance Company as a crop adjustor and retired from them 25 years later. Lloyd enjoyed dancing, especially square-dancing and traveling to Brownsville, Texas. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Les (Debra) of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren: Pamela Eggers and her children Sarah, Caleb and Amira all of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer Stearns and her daughter Mackenzie of Cedar Rapids, Adam (Bonnie) Clymer and their children Taylor, Callie, Tristin, Evan and Maeve all of Cedar Rapids, Anna (Liam) Hamill of London, England and Paula Clymer of Cedar Rapids, brother Arnold (Pat) Eggers of Phoenix, AZ, his special friend MarianDowns and other family and friends. In death, Lloyd rejoined his parents, wife Irene who died December 30th, 1995, and sister Deloris Wyatt.
