Lloyd Grossman

Mr. Lloyd Grossman, 80, of Marshalltown, died Monday evening, November 8th, at the MMSC.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 13th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kim Wilson of the First United Church of Christ in Marshalltown officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Harry C. Harter Post #839. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on June 26th, 1930, at Marshalltown, he was the son of Frank and Hazel (Rohde) Grossman. Lloyd graduated from the Marshalltown High School.On June 1st, 1952, he was united in marriage to Wrightabelle Richeson at the First United Church of Christ in Marshalltown. Mr. Grossman was employed at Lennox, Ritchie Manufacturing in Conrad, as a National Guard recruiter and most recently at the Marshalltown Public Schools. Lloyd was a member of the 1st United Church of Christ and enjoyed WWII era military planes, flying, shooting, building models, reading and was passionate about the military. He served our country honorably in the Iowa National Guard for 26 years and served on the pistol and rifle teams. He successfully lobbied for the rights of National Guard surviving spouses in Washington D.C. in the 1970s. Left to cherish his memory are Wrightabelle, his loving wife of 58 years, sons Mark (Vicky) Grossman and Eric Grossman of Marshalltown, son-in-law Dean Conrad of Sumner, Iowa, grandchildren: Emily Conrad of Waterloo, Wyatt Conrad of Buffalo Grove, IL, and Cody Conrad of Cedar Rapids, Kyle and Ryan Grossman of Marshalltown, great-granddaughter Isabella Lea Adams, brother Frank (Sunny) Grossman of Las Vegas and sister-in-law Marla Grossman of Marshalltown as well as nieces, nephews and friends.In death, Lloyd rejoined his parents, daughter Deborah Conrad who died on April 18th, 2009 at age 56, and brother Jim Grossman (2008).
